But I just wanted to address that idea, that there is some "special knowledge" required. I am not pushing you to buy a NMT if you have no interest in one. This box handles everything I have thrown at it so far. Media Center is too limited in the types and formats it will handle. I was using an Xbox 360 through Media Center to play video and display photos on my TV. The eGreat is on a 10/100 switch and the rest are wireless. If you have the interest or time to get into any of the advanced stuff-then that's great-but all that stuff is just the icing on the cake! One desktop, the server and the NAS are on a gigabit switch. But most users can easily start out with the out-of-box features and be fully happy with what a NMT can do. There are however, many advanced things that you can do with them that requires more knowledge and work. NMT's are fully plug and play, and unlike a lot of the other media players, they have rock solid networking, that works right out of the box without any tweaking. Hi, if this is not your hobby (you don't have personal interest in it), then a network media tank might not be for you.īut the idea that network media tanks are not plug and play and require some "special" knowledge to "setup" is a total misconception.
